About The Author

Charlene Young

Charlene Young-Ely was born and raised in Goose Rock, Kentucky, a small Appalachian community built on hard work, land, and family endurance. She grew up believing her family was “poor as a church mouse,” only to later understand that poverty has categories, and identity inside that kind of world is shaped as much by pride, reputation, and survival as it is by income. Her family was the kind that worked for everything they had, and that work ethic never left her.

About The Book

Babies To Success Or Babies To Prison Your Choice

“Babies to Success or Babies to Prison: Your Choice” serves as a poignant and heartfelt reminder that the environment surrounding a child ultimately shapes them. It shows how poverty is not just about income, it is also a mindset, a belief system, a quiet training of what someone thinks they deserve. This true story asks adults to take responsibility for what children absorb, because the environment they grow up in becomes the filter through which they make decisions later. The reader will see themselves somewhere in these moments, as the child, the parent, the teacher, or the silent witness, and they will walk away knowing that tiny everyday interactions matter more than dramatic events. The question is not only “what did a child live through?” but “what did those years plant inside of them?” Because the foundation is built long before the world notices the child, and whether that foundation leads toward success, destruction, or survival, becomes the consequence of choices made by the adults who raised them.
